Humility & our humanity will open doors where our skills & talent won’t

What does it mean to grow our humility? What does it mean to be, and to remain humble in this modern age of technology?

My friends, for me, I also agree that humility isn’t about thinking of yourself less than other people. It is about thinking of yourself less often. It is about not thinking of yourself better than your brothers and sisters. No.

Remember, that God gave us, to each one, our gifts. To each one, his or her own thing. We each have our own form of intelligence, talents, skills, aspirations, dreams, and hopes.

And we complement one another.

We need each other.

There is no, or will be, a “self-made” man or woman who is “successful” in life. We need the help of our brothers and sisters. We can’t go about in life on our own. This journey we call life, is a shared adventure. We human beings are built to connect with others. For some, like me, introverted — this means, we require our alone time. But this doesn’t mean introverts like myself can’t interact, or connect with other people.

And I for one, believe that we are put here to help one another. To help each other in our shared journey returning to our true homeland, the heavenly kingdom of God, our Father. Our King, our sustainer and our provider. Our Lord Jesus, the Christ. Who is our good Shepherd.

Now my friends, without practicing true humility there can be no learning, nor growth for us. For learning, in a deeper sense of it, requires that we first be humble enough to study first, to undergo training, to accept that we make mistakes (and often, quite often too), to learn from someone else, or to learn from and with a group of other learners, and so on.

We need humility for us to keep learning. For us to keep growing.

And my friends, it is good. For humility is the root of all the other virtues that are the gifts of God the Holy Spirit. Because, first, we must humbly ask God to grant us, to give us, to bless us with these gifts of the Holy Spirit.

I’m not going to go deeper into the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for I don’t know much about it, except that it is mentioned in the Holy Bible. And God freely gives it to anybody, especially, if we choose to ask for these gifts. We can do so, through sincere prayers. Remember, it is when you ask from God, that the Lord our God gives.

Prayers with the right heart, that trusts in God. And that believes in our Maker. And please bear in mind, my friends, that when we pray — we need to pray regularly. Prayer is our communication highway to God. And in order to build a good friendship with God, we need to pray.

To further add, we can never get it right the first time. We will always commit mistakes, especially, as we move forward in our journey. We learn things, sometimes important things in life, as we go. There’s not a single person, I believe, who has learnt all the necessary lessons beforehand, or, before his or her own journey.

And my friends, I too have learned something. I have made a lot of mistakes. For life has a way of schooling foolish people like myself, especially with our experiences. That humility is something like empathy, we will always need to pursue, care for, practice, and grow within ourselves.

Remember my friends, humility before all people. And humility before oneself, and before God.

There is nothing we have that we can boast about. For all good things are from God. We only have it loaned, or borrowed, from Him — Who saved us from our sinfulness. Who created us. Who sustains us.

And, to add, we simply can’t achieve anything without the help, love, and support of people around us. And this means: our family members, our loved-ones, our relatives, our friends, our co-workers, our employers, and so on.

We need each other. We need one another.

We can’t go on with life. Without others. It just doesn’t work that way. For this is a shared journey that we have going for anybody who is alive and kicking. And this is a good thing. And also, to each one, his own gifts that we can contribute something with, on our table.

I guess this brings us to the end of this post, my friends.

Thank you so much for accompanying me on this quest to try and provide some helpful teachings. Things that I also have learned over time.

May God bless you!
